Meymandi, a stunning hall with excellent acoustics, hosted a gorgeous performance by Joe Hisaishi and Playmakers Theatre. Every note was superbly performed, bringing tears to my eyes. The play/concert, though excellent, could have used more uptempo music in the second half.
As a new visitor, my first experience at the hall left me wishing the line to the Will Call booth had been more organized. The uncomfortable spring-loaded seats were our biggest issue, particularly for our small daughter. I had to constantly hold her seat down to prevent it from folding up on her. The lack of legroom between rows was tolerable for adults but troublesome for the child, whose feet unavoidably touched the seat in front. To alleviate this, I held her on my lap during much of the show so she could sit sideways and avoid contact with the seat ahead.
Despite our daughter's generally good behavior under the circumstances, it was evident that the nearby patrons were displeased with her presence.
